Have you ever been dealing with a nagging cough that just won’t go away, but you’re stuck on the road in your truck unable to visit a doctor and get yourself checked out?

Maybe you have an allergy that is acting up and you need to get a prescription so that you can take some medication and get yourself feeling right?

The lifestyle of a truck driver can make these type of routine doctor visits nearly impossible, especially if you are miles from home with nowhere to park the truck and unable to find a doctor that will see you.

Fortunately, these problems could become a thing of the past as technological advancements have allowed a company called Doctor on Demand to offer 24-hour remote coverage to individuals who need it, and you can access it right from the comfort of your truck.

HOW IT WORKS


Designed for individuals who are too sick to drag themselves out of bed, the telemedicine service allows you to connect with a licensed physician via the Doctor on Demand app (available in either the App Store or Google Play store).

Once installed, you will be able to schedule an appointment to meet with a doctor, who will consult with you via video stream. This allows you to make an appointment around your driving schedule, regardless of where you currently are in your truck. Services are available 24/7 and include consultations for anything from Urgent Care and Behavioral Health to Preventive or Chronic Care.

One of the primary benefits of the program is that it can allow you to be written a prescription that you can have filled at your convenience so that you can get back to feeling right and get back on track faster than previously possible while out on the road.

The services do have their limitations and it is recommended that you visit the nearest healthcare provider when it comes to conditions such as broken bones, severe burns, vomiting/coughing blood, lacerations, etc.

That being said, it could prove itself to be a useful resource for drivers out on the road away from a doctors office and it is something that we recommend exploring the next time that you find yourself in a situation that requires medical consultation for a condition that could be treatable through prescription.
